Whether you’re searching for your first job, a side hustle, new challenge, or a place at the top of the ladder, we’ve got jobs for you. Monster is the original job search website, so we’ve spent lots of time – 30 years in fact - listening to what hard working people like you really want. Then we created our job search site with that in mind.
We don’t want you to land just any job. We want you to banish the Sunday blues and be excited to wake up on a Monday. Not only that, but you should have a job in which you feel energized enough to sail through hump day, landing on Friday with a sense of accomplishment. If weekends or shift work are your gig, we’ve got you covered there too. You see, we don’t just help candidates find jobs, we help everyone find the right fit – whatever your lifestyle, preferences, and needs.
Your Ultimate Job Search Strategy
Need to find a job? Not only have we compiled all the exciting new opportunities you could imagine, but with our tips, you’ll become a master Monster of the job hunt. Stick with us and you’ll land a job that makes you love Mondays again in no time.
You're already in the right place to kick off this step! This jobs page pulls together all the latest listings across sectors, industries, and job type - and keeps them here, all in one place.
Our handy filters make this easier than ever. You can filter by listing date as well contract type and distance, so you find the perfect job match for your lifestyle. Plus, set up custom alerts in your Monster profile to have newly added positions delivered directly to your inbox.
Don’t be overwhelmed by our variety of job listings. Narrow down your focus by:
- Choosing your niche. Not all jobs are created equal, so it’s important to consider the aspects of a job that really interest you and make sure they focus heavily in the job descriptions you shortlist.
- Assessing the listed responsibilities. Find the jobs that most closely align with your skills by carefully reading what would be expected of you day-to-day.
- Noting the required qualifications. Make sure you have the minimum, and if there are gaps you need to fill, consider if these are things you can learn quickly, or if on-the-job training might be available.
- Paying attention to the company culture. It’s important that the organisation is the right fit for you – that you feel comfortable at work and can maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Before you start firing off your CV to all the jobs right here on Monster, take time to customise yours for each and every application you submit. Each role will emphasise different tasks, so carefully pick and choose your strongest skills and most relevant experience.
To help you do this, look for specific terms within the job description that describe what the company is looking for. For example, one employer may mention the need for “collaboration”, while another is looking for “data analysis” or “leadership skills”.
Mirror the same wording to quickly show the hiring manager that you have exactly what they’re looking for. Using these keywords also helps any AI systems to select your CV for review by the people with decision making power.
Don't let looking for a new position feel like a second full-time job. With the Monster portal you can keep track of all your applications in one place. You can even upload your CV, so recruiters find you first!
Make things even easier by scheduling time to work on your applications, such as during your lunch break, or on your commute if you use public transport. By doing a little bit each day, you won’t feel overwhelmed by the prospect of applying to a whole slew of positions. Instead, you'll be able to focus on the newest opportunities.
While not all jobs require one, a cover letter is a great tool to allow you to expand on the information in your CV. It also gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the company about your passion and enthusiasm for the work they do.
Be specific by mentioning a public project you admire from them, a senior member of staff you follow and are inspired by, or how you’ve always upheld the business as an aspirational step on your career path.
A cover letter also gives you space to prove that what you claim in your CV is true. You can write about the projects you’ve worked on, add detailed metrics, and explain your career objectives, and why you believe you can contribute positively to business goals.
Whether it’s your first job interview, or you’re looking for a senior step up, it’s always good to refresh your interview skills. Firstly, do you research. Find out everything you can about the company and the job role, so you’re prepared to make your answers as relevant as possible.
Your interviews will involve questions directly related to the role itself, but there are also universal interview questions you can prepare for no matter what job you’re going for. Take the time to practice your answers to some of the most common questions.
Having pre-prepared responses helps you feel more confident on the day and can guard against any sudden mind-blanks. Just be careful to remain flexible and avoid coming across too rehearsed. And don’t forget to have a few of your own questions up your sleeve.
The journey doesn't end once you've hit "Submit". Monster makes it easy to keep track of your pending applications so you can easily schedule your follow-up communications. As a general rule, one to two weeks after your submission date is the right time to reach out to the employer.
Politely inquire about the status of your application, while reiterating your suitability and enthusiasm for the role. You'll often find the right contact on the job listings itself, or you can call or email the company's HR department to ask.
Job hunting isn’t an overnight success. Keep boosting your employability by staying on top of your research and professional development.
Allow yourself around 15 minutes each day for tasks like tweaking or updating your CV, practicing your responses to common interview questions, or checking up on news and media releases from the companies you're pursuing.
Set a specific theme for each day. For example, on Mondays you could peruse the latest headlines, and on Tuesdays you might choose to read relevant blog posts, etc. Set an alarm on your phone as an easy reminder.
Being in job search mode means being in constant networking mode. Make a plan each week for who you'll reach out to. It could be a colleague at your current job whose role you'd like to learn more about, a former coworker, or an old boss.
Also check out industry events and make an effort to foster new contacts. The more you widen your professional circle, the more opportunities you have to find your perfect job. And, don’t forget about online networking opportunities, such as social media groups, webinars, and mentoring programs.
When your strategy pays off with that ideal position knocking on your door, it’s time to take the final step. While it’s exciting to receive an offer, don't rush in. Yes - respond promptly to show your gratitude, but then request a reasonable period to review the whole offer.
Salary is important, but don't forget to also scrutinise the other benefits such as the annual leave offering, any health insurance cover, and flexible working opportunities. Ask questions and negotiate until you feel comfortable moving forward. Then, all that’s left to do is celebrate!
